This is the finest, and most timeless, almanac I’ve ever seen. For those of us who cohabit northern New England with the bear and the grosbeak and the trillium, it is the single easiest (and most charming) introduction to our neighbors, to our place, and to the passage of our time that’s yet been written.
—Bill McKibben
author, Wandering Home
Reading The Outside Story is like tramping the woods with a very wise and patient guide, one who can point us to wonders in our natural world that we’ve never noticed on our own. A book of marvels which taught me I still have lots to learn about the beautiful land in which we dwell.
—W.D. Wetherell
editor, This American River
The Outside Story is an anthology of new essays contributed by more than two dozen New Hampshire and Vermont writers, including Ted Levin, Willem Lange, and Michael Caduto.
These essays explore a broad range of topics, from acid rain to garter snake mating, native fish to exotic ladybugs, deeryards to deer hunting—all written by and for a local audience and organized in an easy-to-browse, monthly format.
The Outside Story is edited by Chuck Wooster, published by Northern Woodlands, and underwritten by the Wellborn Ecology Fund of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation: Upper Valley region.
